A Must Have for your Holiday Wish List

I just added YakTrax to my wish list and I sure hope I find them under the tree!

With training for a Spring Marathon about to start in January I anticipate many slippery runs over the next few months but I am hoping there will be much less sliding with my YakTrax!

Here is some info on the product:

Yaktrax have a unique, spikeless, patented coil design, unlike other products on the market.

The Yaktrax Pro will instantly give you better traction, confidence and safety on packed snow or ice. Move about naturally with the same solid grip that you are accustomed to on dry surfaces. Walk or run as you normally would and experience stability on ice and snow like you have never felt before.

Made with high strength, abrasion resistant 1.4 mm steel coils and heavy duty natural rubber material, the Yaktrax Pro easily conforms to the shape of your boot or shoe. With its patented SkidLock coil design, the Yaktrax Pro provides 360 degrees of traction on packed snow and ice and can be worn in temperatures as low as -41° Fahrenheit.

• Easy On/Off
• Walk Naturally
• Spikeless/Ultralight
• Helps Reduce the Risk of Falls & Injuries

Miguel - Run for One Heart for Haiti

This is short notice, but I hope you can help. At the last minute I decided to help my church's Haiti relief efforts. I will be doing a 4-hour run on my treadmill this Sunday January 24 in St. Joseph's Church in Lincoln Park, NJ to raise funds for our Haiti mission. Haiti is not a new project for St. Joseph’s we have a sister parish in Grand Vincent that we have been helping through the "One Heart for Haiti" foundation for many years.

Even before the earthquake, Haiti is a country in which 65%… Continue

Feeling Better

Well, after the MCM 10k a week later I came down with the flu. Thank god it was'nt the H1N1 virus. But sick just the same. I'm finally back %100. I have not trained AT ALL. So I will start my training on Monday Dec. 7.

I'm all signed up for the MCM 5k in May. There is also The MCM Historical Half, if anyone is interested.
I also started bike riding, just little rides, nothing major, it's too cold to ride a bike right now.

I will blog again soon and keep you guys updated on my progress. Thanks… Continue

Harrisburg Marathon

I ran the Harrisburg marathon on Sunday. I finished! I'm happy about that.

My original plan was to run at 8:23/mile pace (3:40) for the first half and, allowing for some fade, run at 8:35 pace/mile (3:45) for the second half. I knew that there were some hills in the second half that would be tough. As often as is the case, things don't always go as planned and plans change.

Unfortunately, the temperature rose steadily from the 40s at race start to almost 70 degrees by the time I finished. I wa… Continue

Marine Corp Marathon 10k

Well, I did it. My first 10k. I gave myself 2hr and 20min to complete it, and when I stepped over the finish line I did it in 1hr and 45min. I could not believe it.

While I was on the course, I thought of how I got there. It was a very emotional race for me. I kept the same pace for most of the course, until I could see the finish line. I saw a little old lady about 70yrs old walking with a cane, I was like Hell no...I am not going to be beat by a 70yr old woman, so I reached deep down inside a… Continue

Marine Corp Marathon - Thank you for your support!

This summer I joined Team Hope for the Warrior to raise money for their cause and to participate in the Marine Corp Marathon.
With the exception of a handful of miles I trained on my own and found that I didn’t mind running all of those miles alone. Unfortunately, my performance suffe… Continue
