Treadmill Pace Conversions
Because of lack of wind resistance while running on a treadmill, the effort of running on a treadmill at 0% incline is less than that of running on a level road at the same pace. Click here to view a chart that you can use to get approximate equivalent efforts between running on a treadmill at different paces and inclines and running outdoors on a level surface.

Running is a tool ... And while having fun, my body gets stronger, the heart and lungs become more efficient. Not a bad hour worth of work ... today's tool, the shovel, to move the snow!

My wonderful husband had gotten me a mountain bike this past Christmas. I rode it for the first time the other day. Felt pretty good. I will be including biking in my training for the Marine Corp Marathon series coming up in May. Just to help wi

Family training blog

I just started a blog with my son Michael, and daughter Aliana. It is geared to the person that just wants to start on the road of being fit and not necessarily run marathons. The reason you may find it interesting is that the three of us have different reasons for training. We could use some comments from people that are better athletes or in my case younger. I will be doing a 4-hour run on my treadmill this Sunday January 24 in St. Joseph's Church in Lincoln Park, NJ to raise funds for our Haiti mission. Haiti is not a new project for St. Joseph’s we have a sister parish in Grand Vincent that we have been helping through the "One Heart for Haiti" foundation for many years.

Feeling Better

Well, after the MCM 10k a week later I came down with the flu. Thank god it was'nt the H1N1 virus. But sick just the same. I'm finally back %100. I have not trained AT ALL. So I will start my training on Monday Dec. 7.

I'm all signed up for the MCM 5k in May. There is also The MCM Historical Half, if anyone is interested.
I also started bike riding, just little rides, nothing major, it's too cold to ride a bike right now.

I will blog again soon and keep you guys updated on my progress. Thanks… Continue

Harrisburg Marathon

I ran the Harrisburg marathon on Sunday. I finished! I'm happy about that.

My original plan was to run at 8:23/mile pace (3:40) for the first half and, allowing for some fade, run at 8:35 pace/mile (3:45) for the second half. I knew that there were some hills in the second half that would be tough. As often as is the case, things don't always go as planned and plans change.

Unfortunately, the temperature rose steadily from the 40s at race start to almost 70 degrees by the time I finished. I wa… Continue
